Direct Refinery Processing Program

Direct Refinery Catalytic Converter Processing

Documented, Assay-Based Settlement for High-Volume Commercial Suppliers

Every commercial lot is received, documented, processed, sampled, assayed, and settled using a transparent refinery process designed for long-term supplier relationships.

What Direct Refinery Processing Means

Western Automotive Cores provides documented, assay-based direct refinery catalytic converter processing for automotive recyclers, salvage yards, dismantlers, core buyers, repair networks, and qualified commercial suppliers throughout the United States.

Rather than selling catalytic converters individually based on estimated piece values, qualified commercial suppliers can process their material as a combined lot through our Direct Refinery Processing program.

After processing, a representative sample is collected and analyzed by our refinery's laboratory to determine the platinum, palladium, and rhodium content of the lot.

Your settlement is then calculated using the laboratory assay results, applicable payable percentages, current precious metal prices, agreed processing terms, and any applicable fees.

How Direct Refinery Processing Works

01

Initial Consultation

We review your material type, estimated volume, frequency, location, and account requirements.

02

Material Received and Documented

Each lot is counted, weighed, identified, and entered into the applicable tracking process.

03

Processing and Sampling

The catalytic converter material is processed to create a representative sample of the combined lot.

04

Refinery Laboratory Assay

The representative sample is analyzed to determine the assayed platinum, palladium, and rhodium content.

05

Settlement Calculation

Settlement is calculated from the refinery assay, applicable payable percentages, metal prices, processing terms, and fees.

06

Settlement Reporting

The supplier receives the applicable weight, assay, pricing, deduction, and settlement documentation.

07

Ongoing Supplier Relationship

Qualified suppliers can establish repeat processing procedures based on their volume and account needs.

Commercial Processing Requirements

The direct refinery processing program is designed for established commercial suppliers with consistent volume.

Commercial accounts must complete the required supplier and business documentation before shipping or delivering material.

Commercial suppliers with smaller recurring volumes are encouraged to contact us to discuss available purchasing and processing options.
